Alternative Fuel Vehicles: Paving the Way for Greener Transportation
Alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) are changing the landscape of the automotive industry by offering cleaner, more sustainable options compared to traditional petrol and diesel-powered vehicles. These vehicles use fuels such as electricity, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), hydrogen, biodiesel, and ethanol to reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
Electric vehicles (EVs) are among the most popular AFVs, powered entirely by batteries and producing zero tailpipe emissions. Plug-in hybrids combine electric power with a conventional engine, offering extended range and flexibility. While challenges such as limited infrastructure and higher upfront costs remain, the benefits of alternative fuel vehicles—reduced emissions, lower fuel costs, and improved air quality—make them a crucial part of the shift toward sustainable mobility. As awareness and technology grow, AFVs are set to play an essential role in creating a cleaner and greener future for transportation.
