Alternative Fuel Vehicles: Paving the Way for Greener Transportation
Alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) are changing the landscape of the automotive industry by offering cleaner, more sustainable options compared to traditional petrol and diesel-powered vehicles. These vehicles use fuels such as electricity, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), hydrogen, biodiesel, and ethanol to reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
Electric vehicles (EVs) are among the most popular AFVs, powered entirely by batteries and producing zero tailpipe emissions. Plug-in hybrids combine electric power with a conventional engine, offering extended range and flexibility. CNG and LPG vehicles burn cleaner than petrol or diesel, making them more environmentally friendly and cost-effective for everyday use.
Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are another promising option. They generate electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, with water vapor as the only emission. Though still in the early stages of adoption, hydrogen vehicles are praised for quick refueling times and long driving ranges.
